Press from Frontiers Records 29-July-00: VOODOO HILL is the brainchild of the Italian guitar hero DARIO MOLLO. Dario has worked and recorded already with the likes of keyboard maestro DON AIREY (Rainbow, Whitesnake, Gary Moore, Ozzy, currently with TEN) and TONY MARTIN (Black Sabbath) on THE CAGE project last year (released in Japan by King Records and in Europe by Dreamcatcher).
Handling all vocal duties on the record is none other than the mighty ex DEEP PURPLE singer GLENN HUGHES - the self proclaimed "Voice of Rock" himself ! - who is back singing an entire album of smokin' hard rock music for the first time in several years.
The album features 9 original songs with the music written by Dario and lyrics by Glenn, along with "The Gypsy", a Deep Purple cover, taken from the classic "Stormbringer" album.
The other musicians featured in VOODOO HILL are Max Matis (bass), Roberto Gualdi (on drums - best known for his work with the Italian Pop superstar Lucio Dalla), and Dario Patti (keyboards). Special guest is Ezio Secomandi (THE CAGE) playing drums on "Spun In Lost Wages".
The music is best described as "Solid Heavy Rock" with diverse influences ranging from the classic DEEP PURPLE and WHITESNAKE blues to VAN HALEN's "Balance" sounds.
The album has been recorded in Dario's own studios - Damage Inc. - in Ventimiglia, Italy and was produced, engineered and mixed by Dario himself.
